Vol. 355 No. 11

Written Answers. - Kerry Schools.

426.

asked the Minister for Finance when the Office of Public Works will produce working drawings for the proposed extension to Lissivigeen national school, Killarney, County Kerry; and the cause of the delay in this matter.

Following sanction of a grant by the Department of Education in January 1984 towards the cost of the extension to Lissivigeen national school, County Kerry, the manager of the school informed the Office of Public Works that the site proposed for the septic tank was no longer available. It was necessary to prepare revised proposals for sewerage before the case could be submitted for local authority approval.

The manager of the school was given the necessary plans in February 1984 and final planning approval was received by the Office of Public Works in July 1984, following further changes in the sewerage arrangements. Because of the large number of cases at various stages of planning it will not be possible to commence the preparation of working drawings for the project for a number of months.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the long delay in building the proposed extension to Annablá national school in the parish of Kilcummin, near Killarney, County Kerry.

There was no excessive delay in the early planning of the extension to Annablá national school, County Kerry. That planning has been completed and planning permission has been obtained by the manager of the school. The case is now ready for the preparation of contract documents but because of the large number of projects at various stages of planning it will not be possible to commence the contract documents for a number of months.

asked the Minister for Finance when work will commence on the proposed new primary school in the parish of Glenflesk, near Killarney, County Kerry.

Tenders for the erection of the proposed new national school at Raheen, Glenflesk, County Kerry, are being examined. When the examination is completed the manager of the school will be asked to pay the local contribution on receipt of which the contract will be placed. Once the contract is placed there should be no delay in the commencement of work.

asked the Minister for Finance when the proposed new primary school for Kilcummin, near Killarney, County Kerry, will be put out for tender.

The local authority planning permission in respect of the proposed extension to Kilcummin national school, County Kerry, was received from the manager of the school on 14 January, 1985. Because of the large number of cases at various stages of planning it will not be possible to commence the preparation of contract documents for a number of months. Therefore, I am not in a position to say at this point when tenders will be invited for the project.
