Vol. 356 No. 2

Written Answers. - Teacher Appointment.

508.

asked the Minister for Education if she will make arrangements for the appointment of a second teacher at Cahermurphy national school, County Clare.

In order to warrant the appointment of a second teacher an average enrolment of at least 33 pupils would need to have been secured by the school for two consecutive quarters. This requirement has not been fulfilled, an average enrolment of 24 pupils only having been secured for each of the two quarters ended 30 September and 31 December 1984. The question of remedial provision for a small number of pupils in the school has been raised and my Department will be in communication shortly with the board of management in the matter.
