Vol. 356 No. 3

Written Answers. - Accident and Emergency Service.

450.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of delays in ambulance services reaching accidents and emergencies in the south County Dublin — Dún Laoghaire areas; if he will outline the present on-call policy; and if he will consider reviewing it to effect any necessary improvements.

The Eastern Health Board have responsibility for the provision of the accident and emergency ambulance service in the south County Dublin and Dún Laoghaire areas. The board carry out regular checks on ambulance response times and I am not aware of any delays in reaching accidents and emergencies. The position in relation to on-call policy in the south County Dublin and Dún Laoghaire areas is that an ambulance will bring an accident and emergency case to the nearest available hospital. I am satisfied that the current arrangements are adequate to meet the needs of the area.
