Vol. 356 No. 4

Written Answers. - Turbary Rights.

586.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for Agriculture if the position concerning turbary rights for farmers will be reviewed with more particular reference to the west of Ireland; and if he will make the necessary funds available to the Irish Land Commission to redress the present serious situation.

587.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will review the position regarding the availability of bogland for small farmers in the west of Ireland; and if he will make funds available to the Irish Land Commission to redress the present serious position.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 586 and 587 together. All usable turbary held by the Land Commission is utilised to provide bog plots for deserving applicants either by way of allotment or letting. There are no funds available for the further development of bogland.
