Vol. 356 No. 5

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

510.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a dairy producer with an existing inadequate quota can purchase land and thus obtain another dairy producer's quota; the conditions relating to this; and the maximum gallonage that can be purchased in such a quota.

Under the super-levy regulations a person who purchases land which has a milk quota attached is entitled to that quota. If the sale is in respect of an entire holding all of the milk quota attached to the holding will transfer to the purchaser. If only part of a holding is involved the quota to be transferred will be in proportion to the area sold which has been used for milk production during 1983. There is no ceiling on the gallonage involved in such sales of land.
