A document entitled Private Sector Investment in Road Improvements, which contains the relevant details, has been placed in the Library of the House. The five road projects identified in that document as being potentially suitable for tolling are:- Newbridge By-Pass (Kildare); Lucan/Kilcock Road (Dublin/Kildare); Balbriggan By-Pass (Dublin); Downstream Crossing of the River Lee (Cork); Dublin Ring Road (Navan Road to Lucan Road Section).
My Department will co-ordinate the evaluation of proposals in co-operation with the local authorities concerned. The making of a toll scheme and the conclusion of a toll agreement with private interests are matters for the elected members of local authorities.
