EC financing can be by way of grant or loan. The total finance provided by way of grant by the EC for road development in County Donegal during the period 1980 to 1984 inclusive was £4.409 million made up as follows:—
European Regional Development Fund (Quota Section), IR£2.994 million; European Regional Development Fund (Non-Quota Section), IR£0.105 million; FEOGA (Western Package), IR£1.310 million.
EC loan financing is made available for groups of road schemes spread throughout the country; it is estimated that about IR£4 million of EC loan financing in the period 1980 to 1984 relates to schemes in Donegal.
