Vol. 356 No. 11

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

515.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason unemployment benefit was discontinued to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24.

516.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if unemployment benefit can now be approved for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin, having regard to the fact that she is available for work and has furnished the maximum evidence obtainable.

It is proposed to take Question Nos. 515 and 516 together. The entitlement of the person concerned to unemployment benefit could not be determined until inquiries to establish that she satisfied the condition of being available for work had been completed. These inquiries were recently completed and her claim was allowed at the appropriate rate of £32.75 weekly. She is a postal applicant and arrangements have been made to issue to her an order for encashment at her local post office paying all arrears due this week. Further payments will be made as they become due.
