Vol. 357 No. 3

Written Answers. - Funds of Suitors Act.

518.

asked the Taoiseach if he will make a statement on the disposition of funds allocated under the Funds of Suitors Act, 1984, indicating when the dispositions will be made and to which organisations.

Under the terms of section 2 (a) of the Funds of Suitors Act, 1984, not more that £600,000 may be applied for such purpose or purposes in relation to culture and the arts (within the meaning of the Arts Act, 1951) as the Taoiseach may determine. This is the sole disposition for which I have immediate responsibility.

Of the above-mentioned figure, a sum of £100,000 has been issued to An Chomhairle Ealaíon for the Irish National Ballet building project at the Firkin Crane building in Cork. I am awaiting the advice of the Arts Council in relation to other capital projects.
