asked the Minister for Justice the total amount paid by applicants for bar extensions in the District Courts for each year since 1980.

Limerick East): The information sought by the Deputy is not readily ascertainable from the records maintained in District Court offices and could not be compiled without the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of staff time.

asked the Minister for Justice if he expects the legislation regarding the new licensing hours to be in force for the coming tourist season; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick East): I am not in a position to forecast when the proposed legislation regarding new licensing hours will come into force. Specific proposals on the details of such legislation are being prepared but have not yet reached the stage of being ready for submission to the Government.
