Vol. 357 No. 4

Written Answers. - European Social Fund.

528.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the serious implications of the reduced allocation from the European Social Fund and the changed method of administering the fund; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that reductions in aid from the European Social Fund will present difficulties for health boards and other health bodies in the continuance of some activities previously paid in part from the fund. The payments to be made in 1985 by the Commission of the European Communities from the fund have not yet been determined but I am keeping the situation under continuous review. Pending clarification of the amounts available from the fund, I do not propose to comment further at this stage.
