Vol. 357 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin Garda Station Undermanning.

860.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that the district covered by the Bridewell Garda Station in Dublin is undermanned by at least 12 gardaí, and when the replacement gardaí will be provided for this inner city area.

Limerick East): The detailed deployment of Garda manpower is a matter for the Garda authorities who review the strengths at the various stations from time to time to take account of changing needs and circumstances. They have informed me that the current overall Garda strength in the Bridewell Garda district, which comprises the Bridewell and Mountjoy Garda stations, represents a net increase of 36 over the strength serving there on 1 January 1983. Three additional members will be assigned to the Bridewell station this week to fill vacancies which arose at the station in recent months and the strength at both the Bridewell and Mountjoy stations will be reviewed when the next group of recruit gardaí become available for assignment in mid-May.
