Vol. 357 No. 10

Written Answers. - Pay and Gratutities Arrears.

575.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for Defence when arrears of pay and gratuities will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

Balance of pay and allowances due to the person referred to in the question was issued on 19 March 1985. There are no arrears due. Payment of gratuity under the Defence Forces (Pensions) Schemes was withheld in this case against the person's outstanding liability under the Spouses' and Children's Contributory Pension Scheme for non-commissioned officers and privates of the Permanent Defence Force. The position in the matter was explained to the person concerned when arrangements for payment of the pension granted to him under the Defence Forces (Pensions) Schemes were being made.
