Vol. 357 No. 12

Written Answers. - Wexford By-Pass Scheme.

568.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether the route of the Wexford Relief Road (Ring road) has now been sanctioned.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the final section of the Wexford By-Pass scheme, which will link the Duncannon Road to the Rosslare Road. Alignment proposals for this section of the scheme have not yet been received in my Department and, accordingly, the question of sanction does not arise at present. Lands on the route selected by Wexford County Council for this section are the subject of a compulsory purchase order which the council has submitted to me for confirmation. Since valid objections against confirmation of the order have been made to me, I must cause a public local inquiry to be held into the objections. There will be no avoidable delay in making arrangements for the holding of an inquiry and in making a determination in the matter.
