Vol. 357 No. 12

Written Answers. - Animal Medicine VAT Rate.

586.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason 23 per cent VAT which was not charged heretofore, has recently been charged on oral medicine for animals.

The zero per cent rate of VAT applies to medicine of a kind used for animal oral consumption, excluding medicine which is packaged, sold or otherwise designated for the use of dogs, cats, cage birds or domestic pets. If the Deputy provides details of a case in which the incorrect rate was charged the Revenue Commissioners will investigate it.
