Vol. 357 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Cheque.

4.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will ensure that the outstanding cheque due to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 will be replaced as a matter of urgency; the reason two previous cheques issued did not reach him and whether those cheques were cashed.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 30 November 1984. On 31 January 1985 he notified the Department that he did not receive payment for the period 17 January 1985 to 23 January 1985 and a replacement cheque was issued to him on 1 February 1985. He did not receive this cheque and a further replacement was prepared. He collected this cheque from the Department's offices at Aras Mhic Dhiarmada on 1 March 1985.

The original and the first replacement cheque were returned to the Department cashed and the matter is under investigation.
