Vol. 358 No. 3

Ceisteanna - Questions. Oral Answers. - EC Milk Scheme.

4.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the amount received from the EC in 1984 under the scheme of aid to small milk producers; and how it was allocated.

Ireland received 6.5 million ECU, £4.7 million, under the 1984-85 EC scheme to aid small scale milk producers. The aid was allocated through their creameries and dairies to eligible individual producers on a graduated scale varying from a minimum of £16 to a maximum of £165. Details of the scale are given in a tabular statement which I will circulate with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Allocation of Small Scale Milk Producers' Aid for 1984-85

£ per producer

Producers whose 1983 deliveries were:

between 1 and 1,000 gallons

16

between 1,001 and 2,500 gallons

42

between 2,501 and 5,000 gallons

85

between 5,001 and 7,500 gallons

125

between 7,501 and 10,000 gallons

165

between 10,001 and 20,000 gallons

105

between 20,001 and 21,350 gallons

50

Is the Minister satisfied that the maximum amount of this fund is getting to the small milk producers?

There is nothing to lead me to a contrary belief. My officials tell me it is getting to the people who are entitled to it. All payments for last year have been received by the producers.
