Vol. 358 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Dublin Company.

518.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism the amount of money granted by the IDA to a company (details supplied) in County Dublin; if he is aware that this company has ceased to trade since October 1984; if he will indicate the money, if any, that was recouped from the American parent company; and the steps he will take in the matter.

519.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism if he is aware that a company (details supplied) in County Dublin has ceased to trade and has not refunded pension contributions to several employees; and, having regard to the fact that this company received money from the IDA, if he will take the necessary steps to see that the pension contributions are refunded.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 518 and 519 together. I understand from the Industrial Development Authority that it has been advised that this operation, in respect of which capital and training grants totalling £150,247 have been paid and which originally closed on what was understood to be a temporary basis, will not be reopening and as a result the IDA is in the process of seeking appropriate grant repayments by the company. The IDA has no information concerning the refunding of pension contributions nor indeed would this be a matter in which the IDA has any function.
