Vol. 358 No. 3

Written Answers. - Refund of Income Tax.

534.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the tax free allowance of a person (details supplied) in County Galway has been reduced resulting in a reduction of over £30 per fortnight in the amount of pension paid to this person.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that tax free allowances in excess of his entitlement were granted to the taxpayer in error for the year 1984-85. The original certificate of tax free allowances, in respect of the current year, 1985-86, was also incorrect. An amended certificate for 1985-86 will now be issued and, when it is put into operation by the taxpayer's former employer, the tax which has been over-deducted from his retirement pension since 6 April last will be refunded to the taxpayer.
