Vol. 358 No. 3

Written Answers. - Plastic Surgery.

536.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the large increase in the number of patients awaiting admission to the plastic surgery and maxillo facial unit of Dr. Steeven's Hospital, due to the permanent closure of part of a ward; and the plans he has to alleviate the situation.

I am aware of an increase in the number of patients awaiting admission to the plastic surgery and maxillo facial unit of Dr. Steeven's Hospital. However, this increase is only partially due to the closure of accommodation in the hospital and to a large extent is the result of a general rise in the demand for the specialty. I am keeping the situation under review both as regards Dr. Steeven's Hospital and other hospitals in Dublin.
