The Garda authorities report that the question of filling the existing vacancy for a sergeant at the centre will be considered when additional sergeants become available following the holding of the next promotion competition.

As indicated in my reply to Question No. 556 on 21 March 1985, the standard opening hours of Rosmuck station can vary from time to time having regard to the availability of manpower, local circumstances and other demands on Garda services. I understand that pending the appointment of a sergeant to Rosmuck, the station is at present open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and on other days when the local garda is on duty.

Radio-telephone equipment, generally known as the "green man", has been installed at Rosmuck station as part of the new radio communications network for the Garda Síochána which will come into operation shortly and this will provide direct contact with the District Headquarters at Oughterard at all times when the local station is closed.
