Vol. 358 No. 8

Written Answers. - Group Water Schemes.

562.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that many group water schemes are unable to obtain public liability insurance cover; and the action, if any, he proposes to take to deal with this problem.

563.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the increasing difficulty which group water schemes have, particularly in the west of Ireland, in getting public liability insurance cover; and the action he proposes to take in order to alleviate this problem.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 562 and 563 together. I am aware of cases where groups are having difficulty in obtaining public liability insurance. While I have no direct function in the matter, I will take any action I can to help groups in this regard. I should point out that groups who cannot obtain public liability insurance can contact my colleague, the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism who will take up the matter with the Federation of Insurers of Ireland.
