Vol. 358 No. 8

Written Answers. - Ballyragget (Kilkenny) Garda Station.

610.

asked the Minister for Finance the cost of the repair and upkeep of Ballyragget Garda station for the past eight years; the income from lettings over this period; and the plans he has for the future use of the station.

At the request of the Department of Justice, the Commissioners of Public Works in 1977 and 1980 undertook schemes of works for a total approximate cost of £16,500 to get the married quarters at Ballyragget Garda station ready for reoccupation by a member of the Garda Síochána. Apart from this expenditure, maintenance costs in respect of the station and married quarters have been running at approximately £400 per annum for the past eight years. It is not the Commissioner's practice to disclose details of income accruing from lettings. The question of the future use of the station is a matter for the Department of Justice in consultation with the Garda Commissioner.
