Vol. 358 No. 9

Written Answers. - Appointment of Equality Officers.

627.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in respect of his Department and each semi-State body for which he is responsible, whether the appointment of equality officers has been made; and, if not, when such appointments may be made.

As appropriate arrangements already exist for implementing equality of opportunity in employment in the Civil Service generally an equality officer has not been appointed in my Department. The State bodies under the aegis of my Department have assigned responsibility for implementing Government policy on equality of opportunity between men and women to a specified officer or such responsibility is discharged within the personnel function as appropriate to the size and needs of the body.
