Vol. 358 No. 10

Written Answers. - Public Service Vehicle Licence.

566.

asked the Minister for Justice if a taxi plate can now be reissued to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 in view of the fact that this person had a taxi plate for 31 years and that it was only out of date for a couple of months at the time that he did not apply for renewal.

Limerick East): I am informed by the Garda authorities that the public service vehicle licence referred to by the Deputy was surrendered in 1976. In accordance with the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Licensing) Regulations, 1978, a licence that has expired for more than 12 months cannot be renewed. Accordingly, the only course open to the person would be to apply in the ordinary way for a new licence.
