Vol. 358 No. 12

Written Answers. - Staff-Patient Ratios.

627.

asked the Minister for Health if he will indicate (a) the minimum staff-patient ratios set up by the following professions concerned with psychiatric care: social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists and nurses; and (b) the actual staff-patient ratios respectively for each of these professions in psychiatric hospitals and units.

I am not aware that minimum staff-patient ratios have been proposed by the professions concerned. The actual staff-patient ratios for each of these professions in public psychiatric hospitals and units are as follows:

Social Workers:

1::326

Occupational Therapists;

1 :261

Psychologists:

1 :202

Nurses:

1 : 1.9
