asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in County Carlow is now entitled to the increased new house grant of £2,000 in view of the fact that the house was not completed until after 1 May 1985.

Work on this house commenced in July 1984 and was completed in March 1985 when the final instalment of the loan was paid by the local authority and applicant took up occupation of the house. Consequently a £1,000 new house grant only is being made in this case. Payment will be made as soon as possible.
