Vol. 359 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Transport.

198.

asked the Minister for Education if she will alter the transport arrangements for pupils from the Roundstone area who attend Clifden community school, County Galway so that pupils can be picked up at 8.15 a.m. and arrive at the school at 9 a.m. instead of being picked up at 7.15 a.m. and arrive at school at 8.20 a.m. as at present.

The school bus which serves the Roundstone area also operates a service to a national school. If a later pick-up time as suggested by the Deputy were arranged, the national school pupils would not arrive in school until after 10.30 a.m. However, I have asked CIE to review all the services in the general area with a view to improving the situation as far as the Roundstone post-primary pupils are concerned, if at all possible. I will advise the Deputy of any alterations which may be made.
