Vol. 359 No. 6

Written Answers. - Restrictive Practices Commission Report.

39.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism with reference to the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 14 of 1 November 1984 if he will now publish the report of the Restrictive Practices Commission on competition between travel agents; if he will explain the long delay in publishing the report which was furnished to him in June 1984; and if he will make a statement on the matter in view of its relevance to the Air Transport Bill, 1984.

It is the normal practice to consider all reports from the commission before publication. In the present case the report has been considered and the consultation required by the relevant legislation has taken place. It has not proved possible to date to make an order arising out of the report because of legal difficulties which have been brought to my attention by the Attorney General. Nevertheless, it is my intention to publish the report in the very near future.
