Vol. 359 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Louth Company.

90.

asked the Minister for Finance when a C-2 certificate will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; if he is aware that this company have secured the contract from Drogheda Corporation for the building of houses at Crawleys Court, Drogheda, which they cannot commence because of the non-issue of the said certificate, if he is aware that this company have been billed for £77,000 tax which they do not owe to the Revenue Commissioners; if he will say when the certificate will be issued; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, following a meeting with representatives of the company, the required certificate has been issued. I am further advised that the liability referred to in the question is open to appeal and that it appears that the actual liability will be substantially less than the estimated amount. When appeals have been lodged and the actual debt has been quantified, the collector-general will consider the question of phased payments.
