Vol. 359 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Youth Club.

181.

asked the Minister for Labour when a decision will be made concerning the application made by Killinarden youth club. Tallaght, Dublin 24, (details supplied) for a youth and sports grant.

A total allocation of £1 million was made available in 1985 under my Department's capital grant scheme towards the provision of community-recreational facilities. However, assistance sought under the scheme was far in excess of this figure.

In view of the limitations on available funds it was decided that priority should be given to eligible projects which were clearly in a position to commence work in 1985 and could produce evidence of the availability of a substantial local contribution.

It was considered that the application by this group was premature and that it would not be in a position to proceed immediately. I have arranged that the application will be reviewed in 1986 and that in the meantime officials from my Department will discuss fund-raising proposals with the group.
