Vol. 359 No. 7

Written Answers. - Boyne Drainage Scheme.

39.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of people employed and their grades on the Boyne drainage scheme in County Meath during 1984; and the number of people expected to be employed there by the end of 1985.

The average number of people employed on the Boyne drainage scheme in 1984 was 284. The breakdown by grade is as follows: Foremen, 11; Clerical Staff, 23; Craftsmen, 17; Gangers, 40; Excavator Drivers, 82; Labourers etc., 111.

This scheme is due for completion later this year. While it is not yet possible to say exactly how many employees will be retained for maintenance work at the end of 1985, the number is likely to be in the region of 70 employees.
