Vol. 359 No. 9

Written Answers. - Portlaoise Employment Office.

303.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware of the serious congestion and overcrowding at his Department's office in Portlaoise; and if he will make arrangements to have new accommodation provided.

The Department's employment office in Portlaoise is run by a branch manager who is obliged by the terms of the contract of his employment to provide suitable office accommodation. The accommodation provided for the public at the office is considered to be generally adequate having regard to the number of persons who attend there and any minor queuing which has occurred could be avoided if there was strict adherence to designated signing times by the claimants.
