I am satisfied with the rate of progress under the social employment scheme. The target figure for the first year is 10,000 jobs. To date the number of jobs approved is in excess of 2,300 involving 300 projects. A further 1,100 projects with an employment potential of 3,200 persons are being processed by the National Manpower Service.
