Vol. 360 No. 1

Written Answers. - Income Tax Allowances.

66.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the tax free allowances of a person (details supplied) in County Meath have been reduced from £114 in 1984 to £94.54 this year.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, on the basis of the information supplied, they are unable to trace the taxpayer in their records. If the taxpayer's correct revenue and social insurance (RSI) number is supplied to his inspector, the information sought in the question will, on request be provided.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick who retired from Borax Hardmetals Limited, Shannon, County Clare, last February.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes is unable to carry out a review of the taxpayer's liability for 1984-85 in the absence of full details of his total income (including a retirement annuity) and tax deducted in that year. The inspector will now communicate directly with the taxpayer in the matter. A tax free allowance certificate for the current year, 1985-86, on the basis of a recently completed return of his income will be issued to the taxpayer shortly. The tax over-deducted from his retirement pension since 6 April last will be refunded to him by the payer of his pension when that certificate is put into operation.
