Vol. 360 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Admission.

72.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a child (details supplied) in Dublin 13 who is almost deaf has had to wait for almost a year and will probably have to wait much longer before obtaining a place in Temple Street hospital in order to receive attention urgently required: and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The child in question had hearing tests carried out at the Children's Hospital, Temple Street, in July 1984 and again in October 1984. I understand that the hospital will be writing to the child's family in the next few weeks to finalise his date of admission which will be some time in October next. Due to the demand for this type of surgery, there is a considerable waiting period involved. However, the hospital authorities are making every effort to reduce this waiting period.
