asked the Minister for Justice the stamp duty payable in the District Court on an application for a certificate under section 15 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956, in 1956; and the current stamp duty payable on such an application.

Limerick East): No fee was payable in the District Court in 1956 on an application for a certificate under section 15 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956. However, a fee of £1 was payable on the issue of a certificate pursuant to the District Court (Fees) Order, 1956 (S.I. No. 250 of 1956) which came into operation on 1 October 1956. Prior to 1 October 1956, the fee payable was 2s.6d. pursuant to the District Court (Fees) Order, 1937 (Statutory Rules and Orders, 1937 No. 177). The current fee payable on an application is £82.50 pursuant to the District Court (Fees) Order, 1985 (S.I. No. 38 of 1985).

asked the Minister for Justice the number of certificates granted by the District Court authorising the issue of a licence permitting gaming at an amusement hall under section 15 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956, in 1956, 1970, 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1984.

Limerick East): The number of certificates granted in the District Court under section 15 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956 in the legal years ended 31 July 1979, 1983, and 1984 was 459, 518 and 530 respectively. Statistics in respect of the years 1956, 1970 and 1975 are not available.
