Vol. 360 No. 1

Written Answers. - Granard (Longford) School Improvements.

168.

asked the Minister for Education if it is intended to proceed with repairs which were to be carried out in Granard boys' national school, County Longford; and, if not, the future plans that exist for the school.

My Department had agreed to grant-aid a number of improvements, including improvements to the existing heating system, at Granard boys' national school, County Longford. It has agreed subsequently to grant-aid the provision of a general purposes area and other ancillary accommodation. The Commissioners of Public Works have advised the postponement of the improvement works until the extra accommodation is being erected. In view of the Deputy's representations my Department is asking the Commissioners to look into the possibility of carrying out some improvements in the short term pending the placing of a contract for the erection of the extra accommodation, and will communicate with the school authorities on the matter.
