Vol. 360 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Wexford Primary School.

87.

asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure that proper accommodation facilities are provided for a primary school (details supplied) in County Wexford; if her Department is aware that the fire officer recently deemed a portion of the current accommodation as totally unsuitable; and the up-to-date position of the renovation and construction of facilities there.

My Department has under consideration a report dated 29 May 1985 received from the Commissioners of Public Works regarding various improvement works in the primary school referred to, for which grant-aid has been sought by the school authorities. My Department is also in receipt of a copy of a report dated 12 June 1985 addressed by the Chief Fire Officer, Wexford County Council, to the school management, making recommendations for either major alterations to, or demolition and removal of, a section of the buildings, which matter has been referred to the commissioners for further investigation and report. It is understood from the commissioners that their local officer is expected to report about the matter in the near future, and a decision on their application for grant-aid will as soon as possible thereafter be conveyed to the school authorities.

I am arranging for the Deputy's representations to be brought to the notice of the commissioners.
