Vol. 361 No. 6

Written Answers. - Cahirciveen (Kerry) Livestock Mart.

69.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the South-West Kerry Development Organisation were not allocated a grant by the central development committee for the provision of a livestock mart in Cahirciveen; and if he will make a statement on the matter having regard to the importance of agriculture to the economy of south-west Kerry.

An application on behalf of the Iveragh Livestock Producers Co-operative for grant assistance from the western development fund was made to the central development committee in January 1985. Having considered the application, the committee recommended that it would not be appropriate to pay a grant and the promoters were notified accordingly. It is not the practice of the committee to disclose details of their deliberations on which decisions are based.
