Vol. 361 No. 8

Written Answers. - Medical Card Eligibility.

138.

asked the Minister for Health if a person (details supplied) who is 79 years old and living alone is entitled to a medical card; and if he will review her position in this regard immediately as she is in great need.

Eligibility for a medical card is determined solely by the chief executive officer of a health board. Accordingly, in this instance, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, Eastern Health Board, with a request that the board examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy, as a matter of urgency.
