Vol. 361 No. 11

Written Answers. - School Placement of Handicapped Child.

175.

asked the Minister for Education if her Department has found suitable placement for a nine year old boy (details supplied) in Dublin 13 who previously attended a special class in an ordinary national school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department's inspectorate is endeavouring to make the necessary arrangements to have the child in question placed in a residential special school most suited to his particular handicap. This cannot be done at once owing to accommodation difficulties at the school. As an interim measure, placement at a non-residential special school not too far distant from his home is being sought for the child.
