Vol. 361 No. 12

Written Answers. - Beaumont (Dublin) Hospital.

36.

asked the Minister for Health the reasons for the present delay in the opening of Beaumont Hospital; and when it is expected the hospital will open.

The present delay in opening Beaumont Hospital arises from difficulties which arose with the consultant medical staff of St. Laurence's and Jervis Street Hospitals relating to the provision of facilities for the treatment of private patients. I have put certain proposals to the Irish Medical Organisation with a view to overcoming the present difficulties and I am very hopeful that an agreement can be reached which will enable Beaumont Hospital to be commissioned as soon as possible.
