Vol. 361 No. 12

Written Answers. - Sligo Hospital Equipment.

47.

asked the Minister for Health in view of the serious deterioration of the level and quality of equipment at Sligo General Hospital and in order to enable the hospital to continue to provide a modern satisfactory level of service to the public, if he will immediately provide the moneys planned for equipment in the proposed extension to the hospital.

I am aware that some of the equipment in Sligo hospital is nearing the end of its useful life and in particular I am concerned about the X-ray equipment in the screening room. Accordingly I have been in touch with the North-Western Health Board about the question of new equipment. The equipment needs of Sligo and of other hospitals are being kept under regular review and new equipment is being provided with due regard to relative need and to the availability of funds to meet the cost involved.
