Vol. 361 No. 12

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

101.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason free telephone rental is not being allowed to a person (details supplied) in County Meath and if he will make a statement on the matter.

To be entitled to a free telephone rental allowance, a person must be in receipt of a qualifying pension or allowance. The person concerned is receiving an American pension which does not provide entitlement under the scheme. His application had therefore to be disallowed and he was notified to this effect on 19 April 1985.

102.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in payment of a non-contributory old age pension to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

It has been decided by an appeals officer that the person concerned is not entitled to old age pension on the grounds that his means were not fully disclosed. If he now wishes to co-operate with the social welfare officer or if the deed of transfer of his holding which was being drawn up has since been executed, he should notify the Department and his title to pension will be further investigated.
