It is not possible to furnish the information sought by the Deputy in relation to all teachers as the availability for employment of all qualified and eligible teachers who are not at present employed in schools including those who resigned permanent teaching posts, is not known to my Department. I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 389 of 23 October 1985 which gives particulars of the number of graduates who qualified in the period 1983-85 and who had not yet secured a permanent appointment.
