asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare.

There has been no delay in this case. Notification of completion of the works has not been received in my Department.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a special £5,000 grant for the return of a council house to a person (details supplied) in County Laois.

The processing of applications for the grant is a matter for the appropriate local authority up to the stage of certification for payment. A certificate by the local authority confirming that this applicant has complied with all the conditions for payment of the grant has not yet been received in my Department.

41.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a final inspection will be carried out with a view to payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

A decision in relation to the payment of a grant cannot be made until the question of the approval of a disabled person's grant in this case has been clarified with the local authority. On receipt of the necessary information the applicant will be notified of the position in relation to his application for a house improvement grant.

42.

asked the Minister for the Environment when final inspection for a new house grant will be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny with a view to having the grant paid.

An inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

43.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline in detail the implications and reasons for the footnote on page 4 of the recently announced home improvement grants application which states where the application includes the provision of a bedroom which, in the Department's opinion, is necessary for the relief of overcrowding, the waiting periods are five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The five year waiting period in the case of bedrooms which are provided to relieve overcrowding is the same as operated under the previous house improvement grants scheme. The footnote referred to by the Deputy is for the guidance of applicants and, of course, has to be read in conjunction with Memorandum HA2 giving full details of the scheme.

44.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Longford in respect of his application for a new house grant.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a new house grant from the person named.
