Vol. 362 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

79.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a cow subsidy payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will expedite this in view of the fact that other similar payments have all been issued.

The person named will be paid his 1985 EC suckler cow premium as soon as the batch which includes his payment is processed.

80.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when payment of 1983-84 ewe premium will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person named has already been paid.

81.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when payment for the 1983-84 and 1984-85 ewe premium will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and the number of sheep that qualified each year.

The person named was paid £2,520.96 on 192 ewes under the 1983-84 ewe premium scheme and following the payment of the advance of £589.60, will shortly be paid the balance of £1,391.92 on 124 ewes under the 1984-85 scheme when the batch which contains his payment is processed.

82.

andMr. D. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange for the payment of headage grants for the newly-designated severely handicapped areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Application forms had been issued for the 1985 sheep headage, cattle headage and beef cow schemes in the disadvantaged areas, sheep inspections had been completed and cattle inspections had commenced by the time that the extended list of disadvantaged areas had been published in the Official Journal of the European Communities on 19 July 1985. Accordingly, even if the necessary additional Exchequer funds had been available it would not therefore have been possible to pay 1985 headage grants in the extended areas but applicants in the areas concerned will of course have the opportunity to join the schemes in 1986.

Question No. 83 withdrawn.
