Vol. 362 No. 5

Written Answers. - Navan School Remedial Teacher.

155.

asked the Minister for Education the position of Saint Paul's national school, Navan, County Meath, on the priority list for the appointment of a remedial teacher, as this school has 15 teachers and 470 pupils and it is the only national school in the town of Navan for which a remedial teacher has not been appointed; and if her Department will agree to make this appointment immediately.

Applications of schools for remedial teaching posts are processed by my Department's inspectorate and available posts are allocated in accordance with a priority of need. The application of St. Paul's national school referred to by the Deputy has not, to date, been placed sufficiently high in order of priority of educational need to warrant the allocation of a post. The application will, however, be further considered in the light of the availability of such posts in the future.
