Vol. 362 No. 11

Written Answers. - Issue of Passport.

36.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs whether he issued a passport containing the names of persons (details supplied) without the consent of their father; if so whether the passport was for a limited period and when this period elapsed; and whether he is aware that they have been taken out of the jurisdiction of the High Court without the consent of their father.

A passport valid for ten years was issued for the children in question on 21 July 1980. It was issued to the mother of the children on production by her of an order of the High Court dated 11 July 1980 which stated as follows: "The court doth dispense with the consent of the defendant to the issue of passports for the infants in the title hereof named". The defendant referred to was the father.

My Department have recently been made aware by the father that the children left the jurisdiction without his consent at the end of August 1985.
